Sarah facilitates the staff and works behind the scenes for the most part - there are many things that need to be done to support an ongoing salon with 16 employees. There is payroll, finance management, bookkeeping, product ordering, interviewing, advertising, facility management, web content and more. "My favorite aspect of my job (besides the free hair cuts) is to hear from clients about their experience at the salon because I learn so much from them. Most of the time I hear about how welcome people feel, how much they look forward to their visit and how many compliments they receive on their hair. No one likes to hear complaints, but I learn the most from those who let me know about times when they were disappointed in some way. With that information I set about to assist the client with their particular concern and then implement changes where needed to achieve the best salon experience possible on an ongoing basis. I have to say that the staff that we have is truly top notch. They are just a genuinely nice group of women - they are sensitive and caring and as a big extra bonus they have accumulated a lot of knowledge, experience and skill which shows in the kind of work they do every day. I field very few complaints because these girls know how to listen to clients and they know what they are doing. In addition, they work well as a team and over the years we have gone from being team members to seeming more like family members. Every family has that one person who is a little special and different - we have 16 of them and I wouldn't trade any of them!" When Sarah is not in the salon she manages real estate properties. She also tends to her many pets who came to her in need of a home for one reason or another. She also fosters dogs for Sheryl's Den Animal Rescue because she is passionate about saving these animals who, through no fault of their own, have ended up in deplorable and life threatening situations. She loves the transition from a scared smelly shelter dog to a confident adoptable family pet.
